My 10yr old golden retriever bitch is always Hungry, arn’t they all? So I am very strict with feeding. I mix 1:1 Black Hawk and Supercoat to bulk up her meal. 280grams daily. This maintains her weight at 32kg. Apart from when our dog sitter fed her 280gm twice a day for a month!!! Is
this a good strategy? Thanks

In reply to J. We have been using Blackhawk 15 years. I've never had a better food for all of our Shepherds. I've looked at the formula on it as apposed to science diet and Blackhawk is the better of the two. The first ingredient will tell you that the primary ingredient is what it says on the bag. It's a hell of a lot cheaper but for some reason vets will push you to the more expensive brands. .

I think I’ll restructure the recommendations. I’m not a big fan of Supercoat, but as it’s so popular I thought having it on this page would draw people’s attention… then hopefully get them to start reading the better recommendations as they go down the page.

Applaws and Open Paddock are good options on a budget…

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Celia. Also,both Applaws and Open Paddock have higher ratings than Supercoat when you search them individually.
