I spent so much on grain free because that was one of her triggers, most feed has grain at terribly high amounts. But they had too much protein and not enough fibre, so eventually went to BH mind you the dog I’m talking about is now 6.5 years old!!!

I was so suprised that her diorheah disappeared within a week. Occasionally my dogs will get loose poops but thats from outside factors, usually a big training day with lots of treats with high protein!!! People who have had diorheah with BH what are you using as treats?? You have to take that into account when you look at a dogs daily total.

If you changed to a higher fibre diet theres your answer… the treats

I do have a dog Im struggling to keep weight on with BH but he burns so much energy. So looking at going with the working dog or adding more fat to his diet in other ways.

Oh nearly forgot to mention. Although my price per bag went up when using BH my monthly bill went down significantly. You don’t feed as much!!!

Hi Ana. Have you looked into Savourlife? I have been feeding my dogs Savourlife for a few years. Between that and BeFrank. I highly recommend both

Moved to another brand and after a few more weeks it fixed up. I would not recommend this brand of dog food at all. Not sure if its poor quality control or far to many ingredients. But constant Diarrhea and blood in poop is not acceptable at all.

Something worth considering with the loose stools on Royal Canin Maxi – this could be the result of an iffy bag, but also dogs develop intolerances over time when fed only one brand of kibble.

Over the years I’ve used Blackhawk which was great.Eukanuba which was great and so on but this was a concern:

(For what it’s worth, he hates Black Hawk’s Working Dog formula and would rather starve! That was an expensive lesson learnt.)

I’ve been using the Black Hawk Healthy Benefits Weigh Management for our Cavaliers and I like it. It has reduced weight in our older one and I like the design which slows down eating. They do get some chicken or fish as well. You have to be strict though because this breed does not need a lot of food. I like that it has a good amount of fibre as well. The dogs really like it and I like that it’s American made, supporting a rural town.

I found my dogs had large , smelly bowel motions on black hawk grain free . I feed a varied diet of fresh meat , bones , sometimes cooked meat and veges, small amounts fresh blue berries etc
