He is on his first bag of Bugsy Turkey and so far it seems to be agreeing with him and he is happy eating it. The jury is out but I think it is well worth trying as the ingredients and the method of air drying is – in my mind- a good mix.

The little biscuits are perfect for treats, meal toppers or as a meal. Stoked to find an American product where the owner cares about the ingredients and the impact on the animal. No added salt, fillers or commercial vitamins and minerals. Winning!

He will sometimes eat heaps of it, sometimes just a little here and there – but for us it’s progress because he’s a very difficult eater, and he will always go to his Bugsy’s even just to fill the gaps and snack on it. Personally, I love that it’s not at all greasy (and pretty much non-stinky) compared to almost all of the air dried varieties on the shelves in pet supplies stores. This is now a staple in my boy’s diet.

I find calories are often misleading, and it also depends on what those calories come from. Personally I never overthink this stuff, and as long as your dog remains a healthy weight you know you’re feeding them the right type of foods!

Bugsy looks slightly cheaper but not as calorie dense as eureka.

I am getting so confused and frustrated by the huge disparity in calorie intake recommendations among feeding guides for various foods. They range from 520cal (lyka) to 987cal (cdk9). Bugsy recommends only 684 cals while Eureka recommends 703, so I can’t use their feeding guides to calculate how many days food will last and thus compare prices.

As an aside – It is so infuriating trying to compare prices etc. when they all just use their own arbitrary calorie intake – I wish there was some truth in advertising lobbying push to make them all use a set standard for feeding guide calculations so it was easier for consumers to compare. If I use Balance.it (which seems to be the most reliable evidence-based site but happy ot be directed elsewhere) it suggests 880 calories, so following many of the brands’ feeding guidelines would mean I was seriously underfeeding my dog.

Thanks for adding this info Joe, it’s good to hear the Bugsy bully sticks are working and helping to keep your dog’s teeth clean!

Once we have some in the bowl, we’ll be better able to compare it it Eureka, which we can’t really afford for much more than a healthy handfull at brekka.

These are excellent value for our agressive chewer- who pretty quicky destroys anything else. They last anywhere from 45 minutes to nearly two hours, depending on the size (which varies) and his disposition.

Without the mess and go outside sort of thing with a meaty bone.

We ordered a half kilo size along with a small bag of their freeze dried (which we haven’t tried yet) and these are of equal or better quality than anything we’ve bought at retail pet stores.

More importantly though, Bobbie’s teeth are cleaner as the chews scrape off the tarter.

Apart from the amazing ingredients, it has a very low moisture content and a real crunch that my dog loves. Expensive, yes, but worth it.
