I read with interest these many Pet Food Judge.
Just to add to the mix of comments … I feed my 7 y.o. Labrador “Lifewise Dog Biotic F.A.S. Calm With Fish, Lamb, Rice, Oats & Vegetables” and “Black Hawk Healthy Benefits Joints And Muscles Dry Dog Food” My thinking is that labs often have joint health problems – particularly as they age, and, being a chocolate lab some calming aid is most welcome. The Lifewise food seems to be effective in calming my excitable dog.

would love to see a review for the new brand at petstock called ‘SoulMate’ they do an oven-roasted, air-dried and canned food for both cats and dogs, i just bought some for my dog to try as he’s a very fussy boy , but would love a review on the nutritional value.

Hi Alan, generally I find the Prime 100 products decent, and the rolls offer you more moisture than any kibble (moisture is always important in a dog's diet, which is often sadly unconsidered with a kibble diet). Pumpkin is fibrous so will tend to absorb moisture, and lower fat rolls will also feel less moist. They're probably the two major factors, but as long as your dog drinks fresh water as well I wouldn't be concerned. Hopefully that helps!

Hi David, The review of the Prime 100 SPD kangaroo & pumpkin rolls was exactly the information we needed. We have an 11 year old toy poodle who suffered two bouts of pancreatitis in January (fortunately acute). The vet recommended Hills ID Low Fat, which we duly started feeding. In July he had his gall bladder removed (hugely enlarged) and recovered very well. A few weeks ago he refused the Hill ID and developed some gastric issues. Blood tests showed a slightly elevated inflammatory marker but normal liver, kidney & pancreas enzyme levels. We started him on steamed chicken & rice (recommended by the vet) but he is now refusing this. We have now tried small amounts of the SPD kangaroo & pumpkin which he is eating. I noticed that Prime 100 also have a slow cooked kangaroo & pumpkin product. Ingredients seem to be very similar to the roll but it contains more moisture. The roll is quite dry. Any thoughts on this product?
