We have three mini Schnauzers (4, 8 & 11 yrs old), all of whom have thoroughly enjoyed the Frontier sample packs. I intend to buy more, but my one concern is the fat content – 33.5% is relatively high and we’ve been told (by our vet) that we need to watch that with Schnauzers.

I’ve read your explanation that because the product is dried, it condenses the ratios of the ingredients. Should I still be concerned about the fat content, or am I good to keep feeding the food to my dogs?

I’d appreciate any advice you have to offer.
Thanks in advance!

Just tried the three free sample packs and our three mini Schnauzers loved all of the varieties.
You’re right about the sloppy factor – Schnauzer beards are like mops.

However, you can feed this brand as dry food. Gonna try that.

No food alone will help to clean a dog’s teeth, only a meaty bone will do that. The warm water is added to revert Frontier back to raw, I am so thrilled that my mini cavoodle loves a food that is second to none.
It isn’t cheap, but it is a fantastic pet insurance, plus no mucky eyes, a healthy soft shiny coat and no itching. My boy is going on 6 and he is so happy and healthy.

That was good to know. I would have liked to hear that they refunded you that difference but clearly they didn’t and that speaks volumes for their ongoing customer retention model.

Teeth don’t like sloppy wet food and for dogs with long hair, it’s a mess. I have one dog that has some kind of humidity problem around his mouth so this food is useless for him.

Hi Chika, the ratings take many things into account, including stuff like price, availability, the history I have on a brand over the years, although mostly about nutrition and appropriateness for our pets. Freeze dried would be the better method of creating a pet food as it retains all nutrition and Frontier Pets is essentially raw, whereas Eureka being air dried is still excellent. I find dogs used to kibble will take more to air dried than freeze dried, and many find air dried simpler because there’s no need to soak it in water.

So to conclude, both Frontier Pets and Eureka are excellent, and I wouldn’t worry too much about small margins in the review ratings!

My Border Collie has been on Lyka, yes it’s good but pricey and my girl somehow loses weight even tough eats 700g pack per day. (no health issue confirmed by vet)
So I am thinking of changing to dried food like Eureka and Frontier, what is the reason of your 0.2 points score difference between Eureka and Frontier?
Probably your already know, Petcircle starts to sell Frontier, petowners don’t need to worry about spending more than $100 for free shipping.

BTW your 15% off link of Frontier seems not working anymore…

I have just purchased a 2.5 kg pack after clicking on the Petfood Review website link. I also decided to get a subscription which offers a 10% discount. The total cost on the Frontier Pets website was $140.70. After payment though, I realised that I had been charged a total of $165.56. I rang FP and was advised that, if you subscribe, you lose the 15% deduction for clicking on the Petfood Review page.

Update. We’re about 2 weeks into including Frontier Pets in Dustin’s diet. He has a small serve of it twice a day (along with other foods) and he’s still wolfing it down. I’ve made an additional purchase from FP as a result. It seems to be great food!
