Hey Kylie all meals for mutts flavours have chicken in them, on the back it states natural fats and oils which is chicken and an assortment of animals. I found this out through an advance dog food rep, as my dog too who is allergic to chicken has reactions to all flavours of this dog food till we realised.

There’s a Qld based pet food called Cezars choice that seems to have all the right things going for it. Can we get a review on those?

They were very nasty to me when I told them about my experience with their product. They accused me of wanting a free product when all I was trying to do was tell them that their ‘hypoallergenic’ (turkey and lamb lite) food gave my dogs an allergic reaction. I was expecting them to check to see if my batch accidentally contained chicken etc but instead they got very rude. I will avoid this company. Something suspicious is going on here.

I contacted Meals for Mutts directly because this product is advertised as ‘hypoallergenic’ but contains allergens, either chicken (without being disclosed on the label), or other allergens. The response that I received from this company was absolutely disgusting and if I could please forward to you the email chain, I think you may re-think the review of this company. My dogs are not allergic to Canidae but I have trouble finding it in America since covid. I have done an elimination diet and re-introduction and the only allergen that I can determine thus far is chicken. They are fine with beef, lamb, kangaroo and fish. I have not done any specific testing of wheat or cereals. I should look into this too. Thank you.

Hi Chris, yes you can expect “seasonal vegetables” to be peas or similar legumes.

Have you considered more prey-based diets like Eureka, Ziwi, Frontier Pets etc? Or even homemade or homemade raw? You could still keep a kibble as part of the diet, and use other methods to reduce overall fibre.

Hi Kylie, I find in many cases dietary sensitivities are triggered by common ingredients such as wheat, cereals, chicken etc, which usually means a hypoallergenic diet really helps. It’s a complex situation, immune/microbiome related, and for some dogs finding the right diet and getting back on track can be very tricky. In your case perhaps it’s lamb? Although it could be many things.
