This was so helpful! I won’t be buying anything remotely associated with the USA.

I felt good about this as my money was going to an American Company. I’ve since found out I was WRONG!

It may be made in America but it isnt an American owned Pet food company. Firstly, it was bought out by an equity firm about 5 years ago, who only bought it to line their investor’s pockets.

Now they are selling out to Colgate-Palmolive who are only interested in the bottom line, not the quality of the food.

Already I’ve noticed a decline in quality since the product changed to steam cooking. My dog doesn’t get excited anymore at dinner times either.

So now I’m left in a quandry as to what to feed my dog that is American owned and is single protein, even the slightest amount of chicken, including eggs, is enough to give him diarrhoea for the next 24 hours.

I will not be buying Prime100 anymore.

I tried giving a few of my own dogs food which was hills and royal canin and still nothing. She would only eat some boiled chicken breast and that was it. In the end I bought the 600gram tin of the chicken air dried and she immediately ate the whole bowl.
Her owners said at home she is also picky so it wasn’t just at my friends house and now all she eats is the prime100 chicken. She a maltese x terrior.

Our vet also recommended it for my dog a long time ago, the wet version since he has no teeth and a senior (21 yo currently, maltese x shitzu) and he loved it. If he had his way he’d still be eating it.
He ended up with pancreatitis, not due to the food but due to old age, it happens so he wasn’t able to eat it anymore but he’d go crazy as soon as I opened a box which is also recyclable which is really good too.

Btw, for anyone feeling a bit skeptical about the brand and wanting to just try, if you go onto the prime100 website you can actually get a sample for free of either the air dried version or 1 box of the wet slow cooked version 🙂
Air dried took around 2 weeks to arrive and the wet slow cooked, you pick up at your closests store which for me was Petbarn.

Hi Amanda, they source all their proteins from the human grade supply chain including Prime Pantry. Once those ingredients hit a pet food facility they technically aren’t “human grade” any more – a term which I expect will become more regulated over the coming years.

I love this as a treat for treat toys. Also the tin is a bonus since soft plastics can’t be recycled atm

I was feeding my 6 month Pomeranian Ziwi Peak and thought I’d give it a whirl as it was cheaper than Ziwi with the 20% off. My Pom wasn’t really impressed with it. The pieces are less crumblier than Ziwi, so that was a plus but they are crunchier than I’d expect for an air dried alternative.

Since I got it on sale, it was much cheaper than Ziwi per kg.
No tummy issues, and my dog is will eat anything so can’t comment on the taste, but I find it much better smelling than Ziwi.

Some dogs are more trouble than fussy kids when it comes to feeding. Ask me how I know ..with three dogs that will put anything in their mouth they find on a walk and then get all funny at dinner time. I think folks need to stand back and see who is manipulating who..
