The package sizes are great meaning I can add smaller amounts of chicken to the beef, we also purchase the supplements, cats love it and I love love love that it has no preservatives as I’ve found even the butchers meat these days has preservatives in it. Love this high grade food for our cats.

Hi Tory, I’ve found with many raw brands the amount of blood can vary from batch to batch, and assuming your dog isn’t bothered by it it’s probably not too big an issue. Might be worth asking Raw & Fresh though?

I buy the essential Roo in bulk, then separate and freeze into portions. I have noticed my last two orders seem a lot bloodier than usual. Not sure what to make of it, but it’s a bit of a turn off. Blood is normal in raw, it’s just a lot wetter than usual with blood.

Hi Renee, just replying to this comment a bit late, but have noticed a few similar comments both more recently on this page and elsewhere. I assume changing to a different food led to an improvement?

Hi Bri, this is concerning and I would definitely recommend feeding something else to see if her stomach improves. If there’s a fairly immediate improvement, then could you let me know?

Sometimes bad batches occur, or as food products they can be affected by heat in transit, ingredient changes, ingredient supplier changes etc, so the best I can do is keep tabs to see if others have similar issues.

This is really interesting as we’ve been feeding our dog Raw & Fresh for about 2 years and recently she’s had a frequent upset stomach with lots of loose stools. I was also wondering if something has changed? I emailed them to ask about it but they said no one else had reported any issues. I’m now researching to switch brands as I’m tired of being woken at 4am to let her outside because she has an upset tummy!

Im not sure if raw & fresh has had changes in the recipe or production in the past year? or if its possible my cats just developed an intolerance?
Besides this I had a very positive experience with the company

I agree 100 percent the food is great and the administration is fantastic. They sorted out an issue I had about delivery and had no hesitation in refunding my money, but they also sent out the order I recommend highly

The only reason Id say to eat the raw meat within 1 day of opening, is because the meat isnt the freshest, & when they get it, it might only have a couple days life left, they buy cheaper raw meat??
It wouldnt be human grade raw meat, like you said human grade meat last 7 + day life..
I want to try Raw & Fresh but Im worried its very high fat, looking at pictures I cant see heaps of fat, alot of raw dog meats are very high fat to get their weight up & make more money the leaner the meat the dearer the meat is in Supermarkets for us humans, so it would be the same for dogs..
Best to make your own raw, thats what I’ve been doing, buying human meats when on special & she eats her kibble aswell.

Interesting observation, and I could only guess myself at the reason why – precautionary, slower processing, offal, or like you say a way to sell smaller packets. It’s possible they would last a week anyway – not that dog’s have much issues with smell meat – and better not to have preservatives as well.
