I have emailed this company twice to clarify if the meat is raw or cooked before freeze or air drying and have not received a reply which leads me to question their transparency.

I’m confused on all the info on dogs diet there is so much info
Is it healthy to do a bit of home cooked meats and veggies and then support with kibble.
My dogs don’t like different kibbles the latest being Lifewise
I think they preferred the oven baked soulmate the best the chicken one
Is there anything else I should be doing ?

Hi David, always happy to read your very helpful reviews of food for my dogs. I have 2 5 year old Vizslas, both re-homed females (both due to marriage breakups), one very small but absolutely delightful, Harlow, that we got at just 3 years old unfortunately has poor teeth needing 2 teeth removed when vet checked when we 1st got her. I fed her Science Diet Oral Care kibble which I don’t think was any help in maintaining healthy teeth. Harlow’s regular 6 month check of teeth saw her having 3 more teeth extracted a year after her first dental episode.
Following your advice I fed her Ziwi Peak Air Dried Beef with Pumpkin alternating with the lamb recipe, for brekkie, she also has some Greek yoghurt with Simply Seaweed (hopefully beneficial). In the evening she/they alternate between Big Dog Roo, lamb brisket bones, topside mince, chicken frames, drained tinned tuna or sardines. They get K9 Natural grain-free beef green tripe booster with their mince and SoulMate NZ Roasted & air dried seafood with the tuna or sardines and often get baked pumpkin or kumera with the Roo, mince or seafood. She has chicken necks, about 150gm before her dinner. They both have their teeth cleaned every night and get a Eureka chew treat at bedtime. Harlow is quite good about tooth cleaning, Indi very difficult but seems worth including her in the regime.
I changed Harlow from Ziwi Peak at end November as it is just too expensive and now feed her BlackHawk grain free Kangaroo, the same as Indi. She really loves it so that was easy, she is an incredibly active girl, even for a Vizsla and will eat anything, appetite plus and not at all fussy, Indi on the other hand can be a bit picky but is an incredibly healthy robust girl.
Harlow’s next dental check is at the end of this month I’m hopeful it will go well as I don’t know what else we can do to maintain her teeth in good condition. She and Indi are my 4th & 5th Vizslas and I’ve never had a problem with any of Harlow’s predecessors, all have lived happy healthy uncomplicated lives.
