I have just finished feeding a sample bag to my 4-year-old (solid) adult male tom and I feared for him breaking his teeth! I believe they are much harder than the mouse and rat bones they would have eaten in the wild.

Unfortunately, one has needed vet assistance for severe constipation and the other, who now refuses to eat it, was vomiting it up 8 hours after eating it. It is not easy always easy finding a food that suits our pets and with vetalogica’s no refund policy, it has turned out to be an expensive one.

Thanks for your review of Vetalogica I have the same question as Marianne above – the Hunter Valley dry cat food (and the other two flavours in the ‘biologically appropriate’ line AFAIK) seems to have a new ingredients list: the top 4 ingredients listed are now meat sources, and sweet potatoes are the 5th ingredient. There are also no pea-derived ingredients listed at all.

Your website has been really helpful while I’ve been figuring out the diet for my new cat. After hearing about the availability issues with Orijen/Acana etc, I’m keen to find an American cat food brand – would be great to get your insight on the new formula as it now seems really good.

Thanks again for all the information on your website, it’s been a massive help

Hi Rosalie just wondering if you have looked at vetlogica hunter valley harvest cat food recently. It seems like they have changed there ingredients.
Do you think it’s an improvement. Also what rating would you give it now.
Kind regards
Marianne

Hi Sandra, you would need to contact the store you bought them or Vetalogica. Cats can be picky with new foods though, which is common. From having a quick look at the ingredients of the Vetalogica cat treats (VitaRapid), looks like the four main ingredients are meat, potatoes, peas, and tapioca – so three of those aren’t exactly carnivore ingredients.

My cats are real guts for treats…. I have no idea why they won’t touch them.
