My previous greyhound had Woofbix with raw human grade mince mixed into it and lived to 12 and was a happy healthy dog , only died at 12 because of bone cancer . My current one has a more sensitive stomach , and is currently having steamed fish and rice for breakfast and raw kangaroo and rice for dinner . I was hoping to gradually replace the rice with dry food , but they are very expensive for someone on the pension . And most sensitive ones are chicken and she reacts badly on chicken .

In reply to Kat. Hi Kat, Orijen would be the closest kibble to a meat (and veg) "whole prey" diet, but in turn is much more expensive than a kibble made of wheat/cereals/by-products.

I bought this knowing it was crap quality for my dog only because I looked at every other bag of the more expensive dog food and they all had the same ingredients. All mainly carbohydrates, all wheat byproducts and all meat by products, just for double the price. Where the hell can you buy dry food that’s 100% meat and veggies?

Cheers Rohan. Our German Shepard / Huskisson also lived a good 15 years & was fed WoofBix along with a meatloaf. Baxter’s was British owned but since early 2026 is Chinese owned. Don’t know if the kibble is Chinese made but since the melamine in the baby formula debacle, I don’t buy anything made in China!
It seemed too much sorghum/corn was the culprit for lots of digestive problems for dogs fed mainly on kibble. (That too was roughly 8 years ago !) Lots of dogs in the USA got sick.

I would never generally feed my dog this, however, as she has a 60% fresh meat content, i trialed it as a supplement to her fresh meat diet, I add olive oil to it. What I discovered she started having twitching and jerking, and now seizures. I have immediately taken her off this and hope the seizures diminish or stop. I will update in a few weeks.

In reply to Jamie. I purchase every fortnight was $24 then went to $27 yesterday it was $32 getting to stage I can't afford to feed my dogs on my pension. Love my dogs they are family. BigW are greedy

In reply to Shiralee. Hi Shiralee, I would recommend taking the food back to the store for a refund. Lectade might be worth using rather than hydralyte - there's some info here.

My two maltese shih tzu love the Woofbix dog treats but are no longer available. Why? Many would probably say an unhealthy treat but then so is alcohol and smoking for humans yet you can still buy both!
